Our online distance education program offers
students the opportunity to study a comprehensive curriculum
in grief counseling and bereavement education and receive their
bachelor of science degree in this specialty. All of the courses
are focused on the degree major thus allowing students maximum
learning in the core courses and the education needed today
to succeed in a successful grief counseling and bereavement
education career. Grief Counseling is a very strong career
option and agencies and clients seek out those with a strong
and focused education in all facets of care and education for
this practice. There is a very high demand today for educated
and qualified applicants who have completed formal higher education
in this specialty. Opportunities abound in many facets of this
specialty including hospices, funeral homes, social service
agencies, hospitals, outpatient care facilities, and counselor/psychologists
practices.
Specific courses focus on all aspects of thanatology,
death and dying, grief counseling, bereavement education,
mourning, and interventions and strategies for practice implementation.
Psychology and social aspects and cultural issues of death,
dying and bereavement are also studied. Students will also
study care of the dying, grief therapies, and working with
children suffering grief. In the higher division courses students
undertake two comprehensive symposium courses that provide
for intense learning and focus in specific areas of grief counseling,
bereavement education and thanatology. These symposium courses
allow for extensive study and research related to focused topics
of interest for students.
The online
curriculum offers an innovative approach to higher education.
Enrollment is open and students may begin the program at
any time. All grief counseling and bereavement education degree
online courses are provided in online classrooms, with one-to-one
faculty mentoring. Students also have free access to our
comprehensive Study Tactics and Resources Center, with links
to subject related websites online libraries, articles and
research assistance. Our online degree in grief counseling
and bereavement education includes:
120 Semester Hours
$400.00 per course.
Students may register and pay for one course at a time.

Course Completion Times: Students are permitted 15 weeks
to complete an online course. This may
be extended with the permission of the instructor.
Up to 75 percent of the degree may be
earned by transfer credits from other schools.
